Crickets
Caring for your Banded Crickets
Your bulk Banded Crickets will arrive in a large plastic container with holes in the lids or in a sealed cardboard box. Crickets need to be kept at room temperature day and night. This is necessary for the crickets' metabolisms and immune systems to function properly. In the plastic containers, we supply a portion of an egg cartoon to provide them with enough surface area and protection to prevent stress and injury during transport. We also provide them with slices of carrot for hydration.
If you are not feeding all of the Crickets to your pet within the first several days, it is best to transfer them to a cricket container and supply them with sliced carrots and Critters Cricket feed. This is the same feed that they have been raised on so there won’t be any shock to their digestive system. A bulk of one thousand adult crickets will require at least a 10-gallon aquarium. Suitable substrates for your crickets' home include egg cartons and orchid bark. You should also provide dark places for hiding. It is important to clean the cage out at least once a week, or between cricket shipments. You should gut-load the crickets 24 hours before introducing them to the reptile. Use a small dish filled with gravel, with water just covering the gravel, or Critters Crawler Water to provide a clean water source.
